How ajournai comes into being has as much to do with serendipity and coincidence as it has
to do with intent. It is a falling together of inter ests, needs, and people rather than
inevitability, although in retrospect it may seem that it was a natural product of the scheme of
things. It could just as easily not have happened. Some journals serve their pur pose and die
