Ignacio Ferrando's Spanish translation of the twelfth century Andalusian maqdma writer, Abu
Tahir Muhammad al-Saraqusti, is a most welcome addition to the fields of Hispano-Arabic
and Classical Arabic literatures. The translation will prove valuable to both specialists and
non-specialists in these areas. Ferrando's work makes a significant contribution to
increasing access of the non-Arabist to a corpus that is little studied and even less
