The PasupatasandthesupportersofthisSivaitesectmostprobablybasedthemselves inthetownXuanzangcallsXibiduofaluoci, whichshouldbeinterpretedasthe town with a shrine dedicated to Svetavara, probably a corrupt form of Svetasvatara, andidentifiablewithanactualsite, TapaSkandarorBalaHisarnear SaraiKhwaja, MirBachaKot, aboutthirtykilometerstothenorthofKabuland somefiftykilometerssouthofBegram. ThemarbleUma-Mahesvarastatue foundinashrineofthissitehascorrectlybeenassociatedwiththeseventh-eighth centuryBrahmanicalstatuesdiscoveredatothersitesintheKabulValleyandits vicinity (Kuwayama1976).
