In this publication, the author aims to examine the relationship between education and work,
exploring the linkages between the various social practices referred to as education, eg
schooling, learning, training, etc., and those referred to as work, eg the workplace,
employment, labour, jobs, and how these have developed over time and what broad social
trends are changing them in contemporary times. In addition, some empirically-based
