comprises the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first volumes of the original edition, viz.,
Volume XIX (Finch-Forman) published in July 1889; Volume XX (Forest-Garner) published
in October 1889; Volume XXI (Garnett-Gloucester) published in January 1890. Errors have

Van Dyck's paternal grandfather, also called Anthony (1529–1580), had moved to Den
Berendans in December 1579. He made a living as a silk merchant, although he also
practised as an artist and had been trained by Jan Ghendrick, alias van Cleve, in 1546,
becoming a master of the guild in 1556. Anthony the elder's older brother Peter (d. 1581)
