The Queer Transformations of Flaubert's Légende de saint Julien l'Hospitalier

From: L'Esprit Créateur
Volume 50, Number 1, Spring 2010
pp. 62-76 | 10.1353/esp.0.0204

This article examines the changes Flaubert introduces in retelling the medieval legend of St Julian the Hospitaller, particularly regarding the sexual body. It is argued that the queer effects of Flaubert's modifications are felt throughout his version of the legend and touch the process of rewriting itself.
