I was walking down the dormitory hallwhen I heard a woman crying. Wewere all women in a dorm then.I knocked and without waitinga response, walked in.
Naive in action, impulsive eighteenI rushed in and soon I washolding her, and soon I heardof the football linebackerwho raped her.
So things begin. A tangleof friendships, a plot of revenge,a favor that backfires, a regretthat grows into a mangroveswamp no one can cross.
Some actions cast a longshadow like a standing stonein a henge; others, the momentswallows and there is no residueas if they never happened. [End Page 190]
