Locating the Other: "...the Stream of Information, Data, and Stories Will Not Stop": Interview with Sabine Scholl

The interview with Sabine Scholl was held in December 2004. The Austrian-born writer speaks of her European identity and her notion of Heimat that she developed during many extensive stays abroad. She outlines her literary work in which she attempts to show the construction of body identity in relation to a foreign other as well as the interconnectedness of foreign cultures and subcultures and their transformative power in history within dominant national cultures. In addition, she addresses her particular writing style in which she places fact, myth, and science fiction side by side, especially in her novel Die geheimen Aufzeichnungen der Marina. Finally, she reveals deatils about her writing projects in progress.
