• Zimitri Erasmus is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Cape Town. Her research interests include understanding and disrupting race and racism(s), building anti-racist praxis, creolisation, and the idea of mixed race.

• Karen Erwin is currently completing her doctorate and helps out at the Centre for Critical Research on Race and Identity, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban. Her core interests focus on thinking about how we research race and identity.

• Jennifer Greenburg is a PhD candidate in geography at the University of California, Berkeley. She conducted undergraduate and Masters research in South Africa in 2004 and 2007 and is now working on a dissertation focusing on changing relationships between American militarism and development.

• Mark Ingle is a Research Associate with the Centre for Development Support at the University of the Free State.

• Sally Matthews is a Lecturer in the Department of Political and International Studies at Rhodes University.

• Stephanie Rudwick is an ethnolinguist and has been lecturing in the Linguistics department at the University of KwaZulu-Natal since 2004. Her main research interests are Zulu dialectology and variation, language and identity, as well as multilingualism and intercultural communication studies.

• John Saul is Professor Emeritus, York University, Toronto, Canada and also formerly of the University of Dar-es-Salaam, Eduardo Mondlane University (Maputo), and the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg).

• Luke Sinwell is a post-doctoral fellow for the South African Research Chair in Social Change at the University of Johannesburg.

• Marja Spierenburg is an Associate Professor at the VU University Amsterdam, at the Department of Culture, Organisation and Management. She is engaged in several research projects focusing on the role of the private sector - both for-profit and non-profit - in nature conservation and land reforms in Southern Africa.
