So far seven issues have appeared, dealing with all aspects of the Jewish holidays, ranging from their biblical origins, through their historical development, to their modern customs among various Jewish communities. The journal also includes a section for articles on the educational value of the Jewish holidays. The journal is now adding an English-language section, so articles written in either Hebrew or English will be accepted. The conference is organized by the Centre for the Study of the Relations between the Jewish and nonJewish Peoples at the University of Southampton. The Reverend Dr. James Parkes (1896-1981) was a pioneer in Jewish/non-Jewish relationships. He was among the first in the western world to acknowledge the responsibility ofChristianity in the development of antisemitism and worked to eradicate antisemitism in the modern world, whether intimately connected with religion or not. In terms of Jewish/non-Jewish relationships, he worked for a genuine dialogue between the major faiths where difference and the integrity of particular religions would be recognized and accepted. This international conference is designed to examine the broader themes ofJames Parkes' life-work.
