  • Instructions for Multimedia Reading of the OHR

As the Editor’s Introduction indicates, the editorial team of the Oral History Review is in the process of developing a more fully multimedia journal. One article in this issue contains audio excerpts, another contains songs, and several reviews contain hyperlinks to material on Web sites. To access this content, you will need to read the online version of this issue, which delivers the full content—text and multimedia. Below are instructions both for individual subscribers/members of the Oral History Association and for those who access the journal through a library or institutional subscription.

For individual subscribers/members of the Oral History Association: Your individual membership entitles you to a subscription in both print and online format. To gain access to the online version, if you have not already set up an account, go to http://www.oxfordjournals.org/register to register as a new user. Under the new users heading, click on the link that says: “Click here to register as a new user with Oxford Journals.” (Existing users will see that they can log into their account at this page, under the existing users heading.) You will be prompted to enter registration information, including your subscriber number. This number appears on the renewal notice or the mailing sheet included with each issue of the Review. If you do not know or cannot find your subscriber number, call Oxford Journals Customer Services at 1-800-852-7323 or email jnlorders@oup.com to request it.

Once the online account has been established (please note this may take up to 36 hours), you can access the current issue (as well as archived issues back to 1973) at http://ohr.oxfordjournals.org/. When you access the current issue, you will see that you can view it either in HTML format or in PDF format (for those who like the look of the printed page). Either of these formats will allow you to link out to the multimedia content.

For those using library or institutional subscriptions: Readers at a library or institution with an online-only or a combined (print and online) subscription do not need to register. The IP (Internet Provider) address should be recognized automatically when you access the journal through a library or institution that has a subscription. If you have any difficulties, consult with a reference librarian or archivist. If the library or institution has only a print subscription, however, you will not be able to access the multimedia content.
