Voices from the Economic South

[see article by Madhu Kishwar]

As the second piece in our new section of reprints from feminist journals in the Economic South, we have chosen an article that suggests other ways of looking at domestic violence and the law in India. The author, Madhu Kishwar, is also the editor of Manushi, "a journal which aims to bridge the gap between academic/scholarly writing and popular literature. . . . One of the main goals of Manushi is to build an information-gathering process about . . . the people of different communities within India. . . . Manushi sees itself as playing a catalytic role towards making our society more just and humane." For more information about Manushi and how to subscribe, access their website at http://free.freespeech.org/manushi/.
