Kathryn Lachman teaches French and Comparative Literature at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. A native of South Africa, she holds a PhD in French from Princeton University, the MA and BA degrees from Yale and diplomas in violin performance, music history and chamber music from the Paris Conservatoire. Her publications include an edited volume, Feasting on Words: Maryse Condé, Cannibalism and the Caribbean Text; journal articles in Research in African Studies and various book chapters on African and Francophone literatures. She is currently completing a book manuscript entitled Literature and Dissonance: The Music of Transnational Fiction. She co-chairs the Five College Faculty Seminar in French.

Stephen Graham is a Visiting Lecturer at Brunel and Westminster Universities, and at Goldsmiths, University of London. He completed a PhD on underground experimental music and his current research focuses on a wide range of popular, classical and otherwise twentieth and twenty-first-century music.

Carly Eloise Rowley is a PhD candidate in music at Liverpool Hope University, supervised by Dr Laura Hamer and Professor Rachel Cowgill. Her thesis concerns the musical adaptations of the novelist Anthony Burgess and is funded by the International Anthony Burgess Foundation in Manchester. She is also a flute player and a singer.

Tim Summers is the Stipendiary Lecturer in Music at St Catherine’s College, Oxford. His research focuses primarily on music for new media and he is currently writing a monograph on music in video games. As well as contributing to essay collections, he has written articles for The Soundtrack and Act on video game music and is a co-founder of the ‘UK Ludomusicology’ game music research group.
