Lynn Altenbernd is Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Illinois. He has published widely elsewhere including articles on Twain, Faulkner, and James.

Pat Carr is author of several volumes of fiction, a book on Bernard Shaw (1976), and critical articles and fiction in a wide variety of little magazines and critical journals. At present she teaches English at Western Kentucky University.

A. J. Hassall is Professor of English at the James Cook University of North Queensland in Australia. He is author of two books: one on Tom Jones (1979) and more recently one on Randolph Stow (1986). Some of his articles have appeared in Novel, Ariel, and Philological Quarterly.

Barbara Henning is author of Smoking in the Twilight Bar, a book of prose poetry (1988), and of articles in Fiction International, Ascent, Michigan State Quarterly, and elsewhere. She teaches English at Long Island University.

Ben Stolzfus, a former contributor to MFS and frequent reviewer, is Professor of French and Comparative Literature at the University of California, Riverside. Among his numerous publications is the recent monograph Postmodern Poetics. He is currently working on a Lacanian study of Hemingway, Lawrence, Roland Barthes, Robbe-Grillet, and Thomas Mann.

Joseph Tabbi has articles forthcoming on Gaddis in American Notes & Queries and on Pynchon in Pynchon Notes. His Ph.D. is from the University of Toronto.

Elizabeth D. Vaughn's novel, Many Things Have Happened since He Died, is forthcoming from Doubleday in 1990 with a second novel scheduled for publication in 1991. She has previously published in Literature and Theology and currently teaches English at Emory University. [End Page 636]
