449 ************************************************************ THOMAS HARDY SOCIETY CONFERENCE: 27 JULY - 3 AUGUST 1986 The Thomas Hardy Society has been altered into a conference for 1986. While the basic format remains unchanged, the Society feels that the term "conference" more accurately describes the week-long program of Hardy-centered lectures, discussion groups, activities and outings. The conference will take place in Dorchester. Among the lecturers already on the program are Lance St. John Butler, Alan Chedzoy, Manas Mukul Das, Barbara Hardy, Michael Irwin, Trevor Johnson, William Morgan, Harold Orel, Norman Page, Robert Schweik, and Denis Taylor. Optional extras include outings to Hardy country, a country dance and a champagne reception in the "Mayor's Room" in the King's Arms Hotel, Dorchester. The fee for the Conference will be about 30 pounds sterling.
