A Reminder from the Editor

As I indicated in Early American Literature, volume 43, number 1, I will be stepping down in September 2008, and Sandra Gustafson will become editor. Since my backlog of accepted submissions is sufficiently large to fill my remaining issue, I request that all new pieces and all revisions be directed to her at the Department of English, University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN 46556. I will stay on as advisory editor, enjoying from a distance, as Philip Gura has these past 10 years, the spectacle of brokering the newest conversations in our field. I just hope that my freed-up time will be spent as productively as Philip Gura’s has. His most recent book, American Transcendentalism: A History, has been named a finalist in Nonfiction for the National Book Critics Circle Award.
