Sullivan MINUTES OF THE 1974 MEETING OF THE COMEDIANTES The Spanish 3 session of the M.L.A. was held on December 27, 1974 at 10:30 A.M. in the Americana, New York. Professor James A. Parr, Chairman, presided , and approximately two hundred people were present. A brief business meeting preceded the presentation of the papers. Prior to the annual convention, the M.L.A. had notified the membership of its intention to form a Division of 16thand 17th-century Spanish Literature, which would in effect merge Spanish 2 and 3. Reacting to this announcement, Professor John Lihani made the motion that Spanish 3 be permitted to continue as an autonomous group. It was promptly seconded by Professor Jack H. Parker, and enthusiastically passed by those present with only one dissenting vote. Professor Lihani was asked to communicate this action to the Delegate Assembly with the expectation of achieving a reversal of their earlier decision . Professor Charlotte Stern was nominated and elected Chairman of the 1975 meeting. Professor A. Julián Valbuena becomes the new Secretary. In the absence of Professor Vern Williamsen, Professor James A. Castañeda presented an unofficial report from the Research Committee. This wonderful gift from the Del Amo Foundation of Los Angeles will assure the continued expansion of the journal over the next three years.
