Here I characterize my professional relationship with Tiger Burch, which developed from 1967 to 1975 at the University of Manitoba. As teaching colleagues with experience among the North Alaskan and Central Canadian Inuit, we established a close cooperation to develop and carry forward the early stages of a joint project to study two Eskimo societies.
