Dementia Dementia came to visit Phil in the form of his sister long dead. She stayed with him all day cleaning house having just left when the neighbor came to check on him that night, then came again to Phil when the cool snap turned warm as a thief inside his head. Phil ran from him all the way to the high cliff forgetting which path he took, the name of the spot where he hid from sight hundred dollar bills. Phil, slipping farther from his norm, tells different stories, takes to bed so no one knows which of them is real on any given day nor how it is that dementia sends other riffraff to the nursing home, seeking him out by name so he can not sleep at night. —Rudy Thomas 26 ...
