IN MEMORIAM: JUN-ICHI IGUSA 1924–2013 Photo by Mike Ciesielksi, courtesy of the JHU Gazette (1993) Jun-Ichi Igusa, distinguished professor of mathematics at the Johns Hopkins University, was a pioneering researcher in number theory and algebraic geometry. Professor Igusa’s long affiliation with the American Journal of Mathematics began as an associate editor in 1964, and continued as Editor-in-Chief from 1978 to 1993, after which he remained an active and valued member of the Journal’s advisory board for an additional twelve years. His forty-one-year editorial tenure remains one of the longest in the history of the AJM. ...
