About this Journal

Submissions Guidelines

Renaissance Drama is a peer-edited annual publication that investigates the traditional canons of drama, as well as exploring the significance of performance, broadly conceived, in early modern cultures. We invite submissions of manuscripts concerning early modern plays, theater, or performance within Europe or related to European cultures, including essays on works in languages and traditions other than English (although we publish only essays written in English), that examine the cultural discourses that shaped and were shaped by institutions of drama across Europe and beyond its borders or that address manifestations of performance and performativity during this historical period both on and off the stage. Occasionally, issues of the journal are devoted to special topics.

The editors of Renaissance Drama prefer to receive manuscript submissions electronically, either as Rich Text Format (.rtf) files or as Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) files. The journal does not accept submissions by facsimile. Scholars preparing manuscripts for Renaissance Drama should refer to the stylistic guidelines of The Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition), including endnote reference citations. For initial review of manuscripts, photocopies of illustrations are acceptable, but should the essay be accepted, its author(s) will be responsible for obtaining publishable-quality images and any necessary permissions.

Queries and submissions should be addressed to Nathan Mead at n-mead2@northwestern.edu. This information on submissions, as well as updates and information on any upcoming special issues, may be found at the Web site of the Northwestern University Department of English: http://www.english.northwestern.edu/resources/renaissance_drama_journal.html.
