The Editorial Board is pleased to present volume 6, the 2026 issue of the International Journal of Conflict and Reconciliation (IJC&R). This year's issue contains three selected and peer-reviewed articles from those submitted to the journal. This issue highlights the problem of reconciliation. Reconciliation is widely recognized as a crucial element of post-conflict peacebuilding. According to Linton (2004, p. 2), reconciliation is the "coming together (Latin: conciliatus) of parties to a dispute or conflict and the process by which they make up with each other." Similarly, Bar-On (1996) proposed that reconciliation is a voluntary, bottom-up process that facilitates psychological understanding among conflicting parties or a traditionally top-down process led by government agencies or international organizations. The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada (TRC) operated from 2009 to 2015 as a court-mandated truth commission authorized, among other responsibilities, to promote the healing of Survivors and intergenerational survivors of Indian Residential Schools (IRS) and to educate Canadians as a basis for national reconciliation (Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada, 2015a).
