This article provides a preliminary investigation of the Democracy Schools Alliance (Alliance) of Texas Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Analysis is offered using audience-centered public relations methodology. Specifically, SWOT analysis, examining the Alliance’s strategic strengths (S), weaknesses (W), opportunities (O), and threats (T), is offered. The investigation identifies opportunities and challenges the Alliance faces. In 2012 the Arab Spring ushered in democracy in Egypt. After Hosni Mubarak was removed from power, the Muslim Brotherhood won the most votes in elections, with Mohamed Morsi becoming president. Western nations and secular groups within Egypt criticized Morsi’s presidency as well as the constitutional changes approved by voters. These criticisms dealt with imposing Islamic law that violates human rights and other laws that undermine democracy. Western nations assumed that a democratic government requires more than voting. There have been academic studies that investigate links between immigration to countries and regions offering better economic opportunities, political asylum, and so on. There have also been nonacademic indexes describing the level of democracy and freedom, as well as the perceived value of country passports. Our study aims to fill a gap in the existing scientific research by examining the link between immigration, passport value, democracy indexes, and economic factors.We hypothesize that the immigrant stock is mainly determined by economic and political factors.
