The current volume of Decisions of the Roman Rota contains six decrees, all addressing questions related to the nullity of definitive sentences or judicial decrees. Some mention secondary outcomes, such as the admission of an appeal or the granting of a new presentation of the case. However, these are not treated substantially except in one of the decrees.This history of complaints of nullity against judicial sentences or acts has a long history, dating back to the time of Roman law.1 The legal provisions and jurisprudence on nullification continued to evolve as the canon law itself developed.
