    Several recent scientific papers have highlighted global declines in pollinating insects, generally attributed to abiotic and biotic factors such as habitat loss, exposure to chemical pollutants, increased incidence of pests and diseases, and the ecological impacts of alien invasive species (Powney et al. 2019; Zattara and Aizen 2021; Dicks et al. 2021). Pollinating insects are also prone to nutritional deficits caused by lack of floral resources, which can subsequently exacerbate the negative effects of pesticide exposure and pathogen infection (Alaux et al. 2010; Goulson et al. 2015; Dance et al. 2017).To counter the effects of inadequate nutrition, pollinator conservation initiatives commonly include provision

    Emerging plant diseases and pest outbreaks affect food security with serious economic implications for agriculture (Carvajal-Yepes et al. 2019; Ghosh et al. 2018; Ristaino et al. 2021). Such plant diseases are diseases that have: (i) increased in either their incidence, geography or host range; (ii) have changed pathogenesis; (iii) have newly evolved; or (iv) have been newly discovered or recognised (Anderson et al. 2004; Ristaino et al. 2021). In recent times, outbreaks of emerging plant diseases have become more frequent, and, in the future, it is expected that shifts in the geographic distributions of pests and pathogens in response to climate change and increased global commerce will make them more severe
