    This special issue of Palimpsest features proceedings of the conference on global collaborations, academic leadership, and research, which brought together scholars from the US and the UK, hosted at Vanderbilt University in March 2024. Scholars and academic leaders from the US-based Chair at the Table Collective (CHAT) and the UK-based Women&amp;#39;s Higher Education Network (WHEN) came together to discuss three organizing themes related to leadership, networking, mentoring, and international research collaboration. Hybrid in its format, the one-day event drew over 150 attendees virtually and in person despite being Good Friday, which, for the organizers, was a sign that there was a desire for more collaborative

    Stephanie G. Adams is a Professor of Systems Engineering and an Engineering Education thought leader who has served as the fifth Dean of the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Texas, US, since 2019. Adams is a pioneer in Engineering Education. In 2003 she received a National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) award to research effective teaming in the engineering classroom. In addition to teamwork and team effectiveness, her other areas of research expertise include broadening participation in STEM, faculty and graduate student development, global education, and quality control and management.
