    Me complace presentar el volumen 60 de Anales Galdosianos, que conmemora sesenta a&amp;#xF1;os de investigaci&amp;#xF3;n dedicada al estudio de la obra de Gald&amp;#xF3;s. Este hito pone de manifiesto la vigencia permanente de nuestra disciplina a pesar de los desaf&amp;#xED;os a los que se enfrentan los investigadores en humanidades.     Para apreciar bien la gran aportaci&amp;#xF3;n de nuestra amiga y colega, Yolanda Arencibia, a los estudios galdosianos, cabe primero establecer dos hitos fundamentales: en 1966, Rodolfo Cardona fund&amp;#xF3; esta revista, Anales Galdosianos (AG), que en a&amp;#xF1;os posteriores pas&amp;#xF3; a ser propiedad legal de la Asociaci&amp;#xF3;n Internacional de Gald&amp;#xF3;sistas. Y en segundo lugar, la inauguraci&amp;#xF3;n en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria en 1973 de los congresos internacionales galdosianos, generalmente trienales, por Alfonso Armas Ayala, director de la Casa-Museo P&amp;#xE9;rez Gald&amp;#xF3;s.     Este a&amp;#xF1;o, que marcaba el primer cuarto del siglo XXI, dejar&amp;#xE1; un triste recuerdo en el &amp;#xE1;mbito de los estudios galdosianos, ya que, con apenas tres meses de diferencia, hemos perdido a dos figuras se&amp;#xF1;eras y conocidas por todos por sus trabajos en la investigaci&amp;#xF3;n y el estudio de la obra y la persona de Benito P&amp;#xE9;rez Gald&amp;#xF3;s. El 22 de marzo nos llegaba la noticia del fallecimiento de Yolanda Arencibia y, muy poco tiempo despu&amp;#xE9;s, el 28 de junio, de forma inesperada, nos dejaba Germ&amp;#xE1;n Gull&amp;#xF3;n. Ambos son ampliamente reconocidos por sus publicaciones y an&amp;#xE1;lisis de diversos aspectos de la literatura, y, sobre todo, por su vasta investigaci&amp;#xF3;n y contribuci&amp;#xF3;n a la difusi&amp;#xF3;n de la obra del escritor canario.     La pel&amp;#xED;cula Benito P&amp;#xE9;rez Bu&amp;#xF1;uel, escrita y dirigida por Luis Roca Arencibia, incluye una entrevista en la que Yolanda menciona la frase que su mentor, Alfonso Armas, sol&amp;#xED;a decirle: &amp;#x201C;Hay que predicar Gald&amp;#xF3;s&amp;#x201D;. Al examinar la carrera de Yolanda, es evidente que esta frase verdaderamente se convirti&amp;#xF3; en el lema de su vida. En 1982, se doctor&amp;#xF3; en la Universidad de La Laguna con su tesis &amp;#x201C;An&amp;#xE1;lisis de variantes en las galeradas de Zumalac&amp;#xE1;rregui, episodio nacional de don Benito P&amp;#xE9;rez Gald&amp;#xF3;s&amp;#x201D;, y en 2024 recogi&amp;#xF3; el XXXII Premio Comillas, que hab&amp;#xED;a ganado en 2000 por la obra titulada Gald&amp;#xF3;s.     Wan Sonya Tang, Associate Professor of Hispanic Studies and Director of the Asian American Studies Program at Boston College, offers a significant contribution to the study of nineteenth-century Spanish literature with her first monograph, Specters, Monsters, and the Damned: Fantastic Threats to the Social Order in Nineteenth-Century Spanish Fiction (Vanderbilt University Press, 2024).
