64. Seal of Dulce

Dimensions: ca. 16 × 12 mm. (from the line drawing).

Location: unknown.

Bibliography: Cantera y Burgos and Millás Vallicrosa, 1956, No. 261.

This silver ring weighs 2.6 grams; its rather rounded hexagonal bezel is divided into three bands, with faint floral designs seen above and below and the central band bearing the Hebrew letters in a horizontal position. The name could be translated as Dulsah or Dolsah, but it is probably the Jewish woman’s name Dulce, common for this period; we have already encountered a seal of Dulcie de Portali from the south of France (No. 23), an area quite close to Aragon whose Jewish communities were in constant communication.
