211 A survey of Late Medieval Bibles appendix Notes To assist in appreciating the paratext of Late Medieval Bibles (discussed in Chapter 3), this Appendix provides a list of fifty-six randomly chosen manuscripts, primarily of English or French origins, which date to the­ thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. Date and provenance Most information is an estimation based on artistic elements, calendars, sequence of books and chapter numbers. Estimated dates and provenance are in italics. The few colophons are noted in ‘Additional Material’.
