527 About the Authors Colonel David M. Glantz, U.S. Army, Retired, has been described as the West’s foremost expert on the Red Army’s performance in the Great Patriotic War. Glantz is a founder and former director of the U.S. Army’s Foreign Military Studies Office, as well as the founding editor of the Journal of Slavic Military Studies and a member of the Academy of Natural Sciences of the Russian Federation. House, U.S. Army, Retired, is a professor of military history at the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. House is the author of Combined Arms Warfare in the Twentieth Century; A Military History of the Cold War, 1944–1962; and Controlling Paris: Armed Forces and Counter-Revolution, 1789–1848.
