Peg Bobel, M.S.S.A., is the former executive director of the Cuyahoga Valley Association and a freelance writer. She has edited with her husband, Rob Bobel , the Towpath Companion and has written several other books relating to the Cuyahoga Valley. Robert Bobel, B.S., P.E., is park engineer at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, where he is responsible for canal operations and serves as chief engineer for the Valley Railway. He was project manager for the book Towpath Companion: A Traveler’s Guide to the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Robert Downing, journalist, Akron Beacon Journal, is author of numerous columns about the region and the Ohio & Erie Canal. Kathy Fernandez, B.A., is the former site manager of Zoar Village State Memorial . She served as a trustee of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition from its founding until 2009 and currently serves as trustee of the Ohio & Erie Canal Association. Jack Gieck, P.E., is a retired engineer, photographer, and author of several books, including A Photo Album of Ohio’s Canal Era, 1825–1913. Roger Grant, Ph.D., history, Clemson University (formerly at the University of Akron), is author of twenty books, twelve of which are on transportation, including Ohio on the Move: Transportation in the Buckeye State. Joseph Hannibal, Ph.D., curator of invertebrate paleontology, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, is author of Geology along the Towpath: Stones of the Ohio & Erie and Miami & Erie Canals.
