The first collection below consists of cookbooks that offer the bold flavors of southwestern cooking with a rustic flair. For some of them, as for this book, the perspective is historical. For my readers who take interest in historical contexts, and in the particular subjects presented in this book, I’ve included the second list. It’s a collection of classic treatises that guided the life and work of that successful international entrepreneur, inventor, and agricultural innovator—the man this book is really about—my father, C. e. Doolin. My Southwest Cookbook Collection From childhood to the present, my own cooking has grown out of my appreciation for the traditional foods of Texas, the Southwest, and the culture of neighboring Mexico. In recent years, I have celebrated my heritage through the spicy foods and pungent flavors of my origins and have leaned much from the cooking of the many friends I have made along the way.
