173 Chapter Twenty-Six Ben—Infantile Seizures Hemispherectomy.Whatachillingword.Probablyonemostofus havenotheardbefore.Yes,itmeanswhatitsoundslike—removingonehalf ofthebrain.1 Imaginetheheartbreakofbeingtoldyourbeautiful two-year-oldsonneededahemispherectomy.Thisiswhathappenedto theparentsofBenjamenSchwalls,MichaelandMichelleofFortWorth, Texas.AfterhearingofBen’sdramaticsurgeryandrecovery,Iarranged towatchhimridewhilehisfathertoldmehisstory.
