From the Series Editor Once again Indiana Slavic Studies is pleased to host a volume dedicated to a Polish topic. As in Volume 9 (1998), edited by Bozena Shallcross, and Volume 14 (2003), edited by Kathleen Cioffi and Bill Johnston, so too in the volume at hand, ably edited by Helena Goscilo and Beth Holmgren, we offer new and very stimulating perspectives on Polish women in the visual and performing arts over a two-century span. We consider this "Polish penchant" of our journal to be altogether appropriate in that Indiana University is home to both a vigorous Polish language, literature, and culture program and the highly regarded Polish Studies Center.
