Annette Lansing managed the photographs and other images in this book, including the development of custom-designed Multnomah County maps. Interviews conducted in the late 1990s and early 2000s by the former Portland Planning Director ernie bonner, who died in 2004, were helpful in gaining overall perspective regarding planning, development, and transportation issues of the 1970s. bonner’s completed interviews are now archived at the Portland State University library. Much of the information about previous sheriffs came from the history room of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office in the hansen building at Northeast 122nd and Glisan. Author Lansing visited there many times to pore over its treasure-trove of newspaper scrapbooks. Oregonian and Oregon Journal archives were especially helpful to author Leeson, who gained thorough familiarity with accessing old records over the many years he worked as a reporter for those daily newspapers. Many people responded to queries and offered suggestions. their input was invaluable.
