Finis Finis / 255 This book on diaspora does not have one, as Asian bodies keep coming and going. A state of being, even a destiny, diaspora is forever in transit, going somewhere and nowhere. It evokes, ironically, the Chinese ideogram kun for “trapped” or “entrapment,” with mu (wood) framed by a square. Yet it may be the square human mind that imprisons itself in bemoaning the stillness of the tree. A tree, indeed, does not move in space, the conventional meaning of mobility, but it moves in time, seasonal changes in time-lapsed cinematography .
