289 Contributors Theodore H. Cohn is professor emeritus of political science at Simon Fraser University in British Columbia, Canada. He has written a number of books, articles, and smaller monographs on international political economy, international trade, global food and agricultural issues, and Canada-U.S.Mexico relations. Professor Cohn’s books include Global Political Economy: Theory and Practice (Longman, 2005, 3rd ed.), Governing Global Trade: International Institutions in Conflict and Convergence (Ashgate, 2002), The International Politics of Agricultural Trade: Canadian-American Relations in a Global Agricultural Context (University of British Columbia Press,1990), and Canadian Food Aid: Domestic and Foreign Policy Implications (University of Denver,1979). He is currently writing the fourth edition of Global Political Economy and cowriting a book on international organization. I. M. (“Mac”) Destler is professor at the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland, and director of its International Security and Economic Policy Program. He is also a senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Christina Gabriel is associate professor in the Department of Political Science and the Pauline Jewett Institute of Women’s Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. She has published numerous articles in the areas of citizenship and migration, gender and politics, and globalization. She is coauthor with Yasmeen Abu-Laban of Selling Diversity: Immigration, Multiculturalism , Employment Equity, and Globalization (Broadview Press, 2002). Sergio Gómez Lora has served at the Mexican Ministry of Trade and Industry (now called the Ministry of Economy) in the capacity of trade counselor in Mexico’s NAFTA office in Ottawa, Canada, and as a member of the team in charge of preparing the implementation of NAFTA. He was director for NAFTA accession procedures and for international trade agreements , and he participated in the Mexico-EU free trade agreement negotiations . He was a senior consultant at Soluciones Estratégicas and since 2005 has been general director of IQOM Inteligencia Comercial, which is a firm that specializes in the provision of electronic data and information on all aspects of Mexico’s foreign trade to companies established in Mexico. Laura MacDonald is professor and chair in the Department of Political Science and the director of the Centre on North American Politics and Society at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. She has published numerous articles in journals and edited collections on such issues as the role of nongovernmental organizations in development, global civil society, citizenship struggles in Latin America, and Canadian development assistance.
