About the Author Terry Lindvall occupies the endowed C. S. Lewis Chair of Communication and Christian Thought at Virginia Wesleyan College. He previously taught at Duke University School of Divinity, Regent University , and was the Walter Mason Fellow of Religious Studies at the College of William and Mary. He is the author of Surprised by Laughter: The Comic World of C. S. Lewis (Thomas Nelson, 1997); The Silents of God: Selected Issues and Documents in Silent American Film and Religion, 1908–1925 (Scarecrow, 2001); and The Mother of All Laughter: Sarah and the Genesis of Comedy (Broadman Holman, 2003). He is also the executive producer of over fifty films. An ordained Congregational minister, he received his B.A. from Vanguard University, M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary, and Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
