Acknowledgments The chapters in this book are the work of individual authors, but the book as a whole is the product of extensive collaboration. The project was conceived at the Center for Urban and Regional Planning at the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, where issues of Planning with/for People have been high on the agenda for the last three decades. A series of meetings with colleagues at ACSP (American Collegiate Schools of Planning) conferences led to a continuous collaboration among a group of senior planning educators who shared the wish to deliver their social legacy to students, scholars, and practitioners interested in urban development. We are grateful to the anonymous foundation whose very generous financial support enabled us to carry out the various stages towards the publication of this book. In particular, we want to convey our gratitude to the Director of the Foundation’s environmental division for his professionalism and responsiveness.
