The idea for the series was the brainchild of professors Jason M. Frawley, Charles Grear, and David Slay. In addition, Grear is not only an assistant professor of history at Prairie View A & M University but also a splendid producer of historical maps. Working with him on the maps for this volume was made easy by his thorough knowledge of the subject, which gave him a very clear concept of what was needed in each map.
