The works for which additional information is provided in the Notes on Columns are indicated with a plus sign (+ ) after the title. Dates placed above the title in brackets are unascertainable and therefore estimated. Sometimes two of Hearn’s woodcuts appeared in the same issue, the second one on an inside page and often a re-run of a woodcut previously published; therefore, the same date occasionally appears above two sequential columns. Columns that originally appeared beneath a republished woodcut have been pulled out of chronological sequence and paired with the earlier one.
