Sago married Alice Longfellow ; they had two children, Harold and Rufus Sago. Sago died on July 10, 1901 [se5197].1 See offspring who follow; Longfellow, Alice. Sago, Harold ?–1898 nd + wm/ch A son of Alice Longfellow and Sago (Jim), Harold was a half-brother of Hugh Chee’s children, Parker, Theodore, and Menola Chee. His half-siblings were Parker, Theodore, and Menola Chee. Rufus settled at Mescalero. Forsythe of West Grove, Pennsylvania, September 10, 1897. Discharged on July 7, 1899, Anice went to Fort Sill. She married Jay Simmons, a white soldier stationed at Fort Sill; they lived near Enid or El Reno, Oklahoma, and had two sons, Morton and Edward. After Simmons died she returned to Fort Sill and married Samuel Kenoi; they had two daughters, Catherine and Paula. Anice worked as a cook in the Apache Mission on the post in 1910. She was interested in “a Christian life for the love sake” of her children. With the intention of enrolling them in Carlisle, she wrote to the superintendent inquiring about the age requirement. Anice settled at Mescalero and died of pneumonia in October 1914. She had spoken often about her sons to Hendrina Hospers, a missionary with the Reformed Church. Prior to Anice’s death, she asked Miss Hospers to tell her boys “to be good . . . do the best they can in school . . . they can please their mama best who is still watching them.”9 See also Kenoi (Samuel).
