Bibliography References Originally Cited by Ostad Elahi By convention, all alphabetization ignores the Arabic article al-. Since Ostad Elahi usually mentions only the title of the sources he cites (rather than the author), and since many of his references are to older Iranian lithographed editions no longer accessible even in most university libraries, I have added cross-references listing his sources by the title he actually employs, as well as by author. The older lithographed texts commonly used by Iranian scholars until very recently often did not have details about a specific publisher, place, or sometimes even a date of publication. In a few cases where the older lithographed copies he cites were not available, we have had to mention more recent printed editions. In addition, when an English translation of a work he cited is now available (as for Sabzavår¥), that translation has also been mentioned after the original text for readers who may wish to explore further some of the philosophical background to this work. Hejira dates, unless otherwise specified, are the normal lunar ones, while solar Hejira dates, commonly used for modern Iranian publications, are designated by the abbreviation AHS; all Hejira dates are followed by the their Common Era equivalents.
