This first table in the lists of lost ships includes escorts that were sunk, namely one from each of the following: from Dakar and from Falmouth in October 1917, from Sydney in February 1918, from the HalifaxEnglish Channel convoys in May 1918, and one French cruiser from the Bay of Biscay convoys of July 1918. These have been marked † and included in the lists but have not been included in the monthly and overall totals because they were not convoyed merchantmen.
