Acknowledgments The editors gratefully acknowledge the support of the Ford Foundation and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. These two organizations were the principal sponsors of the Caribbean Religions Project and made it possible for us to host workshops and conferences, carry out fieldwork, and maintain a team of translators, editors , and project assistants that included a significant number of graduate students. Constance Buchanan, program officer for Religion, Society, and Culture at the Ford Foundation , was particularly helpful as the project moved forward. York University and the University of Toronto provided additional institutional support, including release time for the editors, conference and travel funding, and graduate student support. Without the dedicated commitment of the scholars and practitioners who gave so much of their time to the project, the guidance and follow-up assistance of consulting editors, and the careful attention to detail of our translators and editorial assistants, we would never have been able to pull together this rich polyvocal assemblage of intersecting perspectives and texts.
