summary
The American events of the early nineteenth century, in addition to their strictly political and administrative aspects, also involved the installation of nascent modes of expression and meaning of the public word and writing. Those that developed in this sense in Buenos Aires at that time represent what, nuances more nuances less, also happened in the other urban centers of the region, rushing towards a broad panorama of changes in the forms and functions of discourse in its different arrays. What is the place of a "literature" in this context, which are the ways of reading, which are the figures of the lawyers, which are the tensions inherent to the new scenarios that precede the Revolutions of Independence; What, in short, is the modernity that America is looking at in that hour little explored by our history, the author of this work wonders, after which he invites us to explore and appreciate the set of experiences in which the interaction between the city and a future as uncertain as it is promising.
