Marx & Engels Collected Works Vol 15: Marx and Engels:1856-1858

The Marx/Engels Collected Works is the largest collection of translations of the complete works of Karl Marx and Frederick Engels covering the period 1835-1895. The 50 volumes contain all the written works of Marx and Engels including formerly unpublished manuscripts and letters. The volumes are organised into three groups: (1) philosophical, historical, political, economic and other works, in chronological order; (2) Marx’s Capital with his preliminary versions and works directly connected with it, particularly the Economic Manuscripts of 1857-58, better known under the editorial heading Grundisse der Kritik der Politischen Okonomie ; (3) the letters of Marx and Engels which are extremely rich in theoretical content and provide an indispensable source for the study of the biographies of Marx and Engels. This digital collection gives scholars access to the complete oeuvre in a fully searchable format. Volume 15 contains the works written by Marx and Engels between May 1856 and September 1858, consisting mainly of articles contributed to the New York Daily Tribune and the unfinished Revelations of the Diplomatic History of the 18th Century. A considerable portion of the articles are devoted to the economic crisis of 1856-57 and illustrate with great clarity Marx’s view on capitalist crisis. Several articles deal with the domestic and foreign policies of the main European powers, particularly Britain and France, and also their expansionist policy in Asia. The volume contains a large number of articles connected with the Indian popular uprising of 1857-59, as well as two articles by Marx which summarised the course of the fourth Spanish revolution of 1854-56.
