Abstract:
One way oral history is practiced is through a social justice framework. Fanny Julissa García, who emigrated from Honduras to Mexico, then, finally, to the US when she was ten years old, uses the term “applied oral history” to describe that approach. She puts the interviewee’s needs at the forefront of the project. García has worked on several different oral history projects with this mission and discusses the challenges and rewards.
