Abstract:
Picturebooks have become a significant potential informant in the challenge to explain the COVID-19 pandemic to younger children. This article explores Japanese picturebooks that have been helpful in meeting this challenge. While specifically aligning with Japanese culture, the universal insights around emotions, questions, and the virus itself provide evidence of the continuing importance of these books.
