JAY HENRY (1939-2005) SESAH Board Resolution, October 12,2005, Fort Worth, Texas Whereas, Jay Henry was a long-time member of the Southeast Chapter, Society of Architectural Historians (SESAH), and Whereas he was a leader in the organization for many years, actively participating in annual meetings, giving papers, chairing sessions, and serving on the board, and Whereas he was an outstanding teacher and mentor for his many students during his thirty-three years at the University ofTexas-Arlington, and Whereas he distinguished himself with his scholarly work and many publications, making significant contributions to the study ofTexas historic architecture and modern architectural design, and Whereas, his work, especially,Architecture in Texas: 1895-1945, published by the University ofTexas Press in 1993, will continue to influence countless scholars who study Texas buildings, and Whereas he always brought his keen intelligence, considerable knowledge, and strong sense oforganization to all SESAH deliberations, and Whereas he did extraordinary work in organizing our 2005 meeting in Fort Worth, Therefore be it resolved that the SESAH board of directors mark with regret the passing of our esteemed colleague Jay Henry and dedicate this twenty-third meeting of the organization to his memory. Be it further resolved that a copy ofthis resolution shall be placed in the next issue of ARRIS, presented to the School of Architecture at the University ofTexas-Arlington for its archives, and be forwarded to Jay's family with an expression of sincere sympathy from his colleagues. ...
